Flipkart Grid 2026: Experience, Team Size & Preparation

Flipkart Grid 2026 guide — what it is, team size, rounds, previous experience, and how to prepare for the hackathon and coding rounds.

9 min readUpdated 2026-07-31

Flipkart Grid is one of the biggest student hackathons in India. Here's what the rounds look like, how many teammates you need, and what previous participants report.

What is Flipkart Grid

Flipkart Grid is an annual hackathon for engineering students across India, run by Flipkart. It is a mix of a coding challenge and a product-building hackathon: students solve problem statements and build working solutions, with shortlists progressing through elimination rounds.

Winning teams get internship or pre-placement interview opportunities at Flipkart, cash prizes, and mentorship from Flipkart engineers. Even reaching the intermediate rounds is a strong resume line for fresher applications.

Flipkart Grid team size and eligibility

Flipkart Grid is a team event. Reported team sizes across recent editions are 2–4 members per team, and all members should be from the same or affiliated institution. Confirm the exact limit for the 2026 edition on the official grid page before registering.

Teams can include students from different branches, but a practical team has one strong coder, one frontend or design person, and one person who can present clearly. In the hackathon rounds, every member is expected to contribute — judges ask each member about their part of the project.

Flipkart Grid rounds — how the experience goes

Round 1 is typically an online round with aptitude-style and coding questions. This is a screening round, so teams should practice medium-difficulty DSA problems under a timer before attempting it.

Round 2 is usually a hackathon round: teams pick a problem statement, build a prototype (often with a required tech stack), and submit code plus a short demo or documentation.

The grand finale is a multi-day event where shortlisted teams work on a tougher problem statement in front of Flipkart mentors and present their solution to judges. Participants frequently report that communication and a working demo matter as much as the code itself in the finale.

What previous participants say about the experience

Most participants describe Round 1 as the most exam-like — timed DSA and aptitude questions, closer to a service-company OA than to LeetCode hard. Practicing company-style PYQs and easy/medium DSA problems is the highest-ROI preparation.

Hackathon round feedback is dominated by two lessons: scope the idea so a demo actually works in the demo window, and write a clean README plus a 2-minute demo script. Many strong ideas lose to teams that simply finish and present.

Interview experiences after the event often mix DSA questions with questions about the project built in Grid, so every line of your hackathon code should be explainable.

How to prepare for Flipkart Grid

Two to three weeks before Round 1: solve easy and medium arrays, strings, hashing, and basic trees problems. Use the Flipkart Grid prep guide at /prepare/flipkart-grid and company PYQs at /pyqs for realistic difficulty.

One week before: hold a timed mock for the team — 90 minutes, each member solving independently. This reveals who should drive the coding round.

For the hackathon round, rehearse a 3-minute demo of a small project the team already built. Practice explaining architecture, trade-offs, and your personal contribution aloud — use Apply's mock interview at /mock-interview to rehearse the speaking part.

How Apply helps for Flipkart Grid

Use /prepare/flipkart-grid for the company prep guide, /pyqs to practice the kind of coding asked in Round 1, and /mock-interview to rehearse presenting your project before the hackathon finale.

After the event, tailor your resume at /dashboard/generate with the project you built in Grid so the experience reads clearly on your fresher resume.
