What are the SP and DSE roles at Infosys?
Infosys hires freshers in three main tiers: Ninja (System Engineer, ~₹3.6 LPA), DSE (Digital Specialist Engineer, ~₹6.5 LPA), and SP (Specialist Programmer, ~₹8–9 LPA).
SP and DSE are the premium roles — they come with harder exams, better pay, and more interesting work than standard Ninja hiring.
You can apply for both SP and DSE in the same drive. Many candidates clear one or both and choose based on the offer.
Infosys SP DSE eligibility criteria
Degree: B.E./B.Tech in computer science, IT, ECE, or related branches; MCA and M.Tech are also considered in some drives. Non-CS branches may be eligible depending on the drive.
CGPA: the commonly reported bar is 65% or 6.5 CGPA and above. Academic consistency across 10th, 12th, and degree is checked.
Backlogs: candidates must have no active backlogs at the time of application. A history of cleared backlogs is usually acceptable, but some drives are stricter — read the official notice for the exact rule.
Graduation year: eligibility is tied to the target batch (e.g., 2026 graduates for the 2026 drive). Off-campus drives may accept recent pass-outs.

How do you apply for SP and DSE?
Infosys runs SP and DSE hiring through InfyTQ (Infosys Talent Quotient) certification and through Superset off-campus drives.
InfyTQ path: register on the InfyTQ portal, clear the certification exam (Java/Python + DBMS MCQs plus coding), and high scorers are invited for the SP/DSE interview.
Superset path: apply to the SP/DSE drive on Superset, clear the online test, and proceed to technical and HR interviews.
Both paths are announced on Infosys careers and campus placements — the prep is the same regardless of entry path.
SP vs DSE — how the roles differ
SP (Specialist Programmer): the hardest and best-paid fresher role. The exam tests advanced DSA — DP, graphs, trees — plus system design basics in the interview.
DSE (Digital Specialist Engineer): tests language proficiency (Java/Python) and DBMS in depth, with medium coding. Easier than SP but significantly better than Ninja.
Pick SP if your LeetCode count is high and DP/graphs feel natural. Pick DSE if your strength is language internals and SQL but DSA is still medium-level.
There is no penalty for attempting both — some candidates sit both exams in the same cycle and choose the better offer.
