How TCS reads resumes
TCS hiring flows through two channels: the online application form (with its own structured fields) and your PDF resume, which interview panels read during the technical and HR rounds. Both should match.
Panels spend most of the technical round walking through your resume line by line. Every project, skill, and certification you list must be explainable in an interview.
For campus drives, the resume also crosses the placement cell — keep it one page, PDF, and ATS-parseable.
- Header: name, contact, LinkedIn, GitHub (if you have one)
- Summary: 2–3 lines — degree, core skills, target role
- Skills: one language in depth + SQL, DBMS, OOP, web basics
- Projects: 2–3 with stack and outcome
- Education: degree, college, CGPA, relevant coursework
- Certifications and achievements: only role-relevant ones
Section order that works for TCS
Header → Summary → Skills → Projects → Education → Certifications → Achievements. Skills and projects come before education because TCS technical panels probe skills and projects first.
If you have an internship, place it above projects. If you do not, lead with two strong projects with real implementation detail.
Skills TCS panels actually ask about
For Ninja and ASE tracks: Java or Python basics, OOP, SQL, DBMS, OS fundamentals, and basic web (HTML/CSS/JS or any framework you used). For Digital and Prime: deeper Java, REST APIs, cloud basics, and project architecture.
List only skills you can explain in 2 minutes each. A resume keyword without interview knowledge is the fastest way to fail the technical round.
