Placement Strategy
Final Year Placement Preparation Roadmap: Month by Month
A final year placement roadmap — month-by-month preparation from August to offer, covering resume, aptitude, DSA, and interview rounds.
The final year decides what three years of learning are worth. Here is the month-by-month roadmap for the placement season.
August–September: foundation and applications
Finalize the resume early — tailored to your target role family, with projects and skills interview-ready. Register for all open drives: TCS NQT, Infosys, Wipro, and every campus-visible company. Set up the application tracker now.
Recheck eligibility: CGPA, backlogs, and graduation year for each drive. A single missed window costs weeks.
October–December: first wave of drives
This is prime service-company season. Give every online test — aptitude, reasoning, coding — and treat each as a practice run for the next. Keep a mistake log per test and fix patterns between drives.
Run 1–2 mock interviews weekly so the technical and HR rounds arrive rehearsed, and keep solving 2–3 DSA problems daily for product company OAs that open later.
January–March: product season and off campus
Product companies and startups open their new-grad applications now — Amazon, Flipkart, Zomato, and a long tail of startups. OA practice from PYQs becomes the priority, alongside interview mocks.
Start or accelerate off campus applications in parallel: LinkedIn alerts, career pages, and fresher drives. The tracker keeps both paths from colliding.
April–June: follow-ups and backup plans
Follow up on applications, appear in delayed drives, and consider internships or apprenticeships as stepping stones. Many final-year students convert internship offers into jobs or use them for experience.
Keep interview skills warm with weekly mocks — surprise callbacks happen, and a sharp candidate converts them.
The daily non-negotiable
Every single day of the season: 45 minutes DSA or aptitude, one prepared answer spoken aloud, and 30 minutes of applications or follow-ups. Small daily consistency is the only strategy that survives the season's chaos.
Apply supports the whole loop — tailored resumes, mock interviews, and PYQs — with the guides at /blog/campus-placement-guide-india-2026 and /blog/off-campus-placement-preparation-guide.
